About Mix Artist Academy

Most self-producing musicians and aspiring engineers don’t lack information.
They lack clarity in their workflows and confidence their decisions.
In universities, there’s often strong theory (as well as lots of academic fluff) - but not always enough practical connection to the realities of professional sessions.
In high-end studios, there’s extraordinary skill - but not always the ability to explain decisions in a way others can apply.

Somewhere between those two worlds, something was missing. I created Mix Artist Academy to bridge that gap.

Recording engineer for Emily Lubitz’s No.1 album Two White Horses
I’m Jan ‘Yarn’ Muths - recording & mix engineer, educator, and someone who has spent over 25 years helping musicians translate feeling and intent into releases they feel proud of.
My approach isn’t about collecting more plugins or chasing the newest quick-fix tool. It’s about building real skills as well as confidence in tasteful decision making, which leads to the ability to translate the feeling of a song into sound.
If you want to grow as a mixer -with guidance from someone who genuinely gets where you’re at- you’re in the right place.
